A Video Treatment on the Passage of Time
Video style is full of juxtaposition. Old filmy, grainy, faded footage mixed with flashes of vibrant, shaky cam, layered effects that ghost images over another so that the eye can’t tell what is present or the past.
Intermittently, type effects—sometimes words, sometimes phrases–flicker on the screen, sometime faint and fluttering, sometimes bold and brazen. Punctuating voices.
Music ebbs and flows just the same.
Two voices speak the words, sometimes overlapping, sometimes one then the other. Fast and furious staccato…to slow and deliberate, saddness.
Is it even worth explaining?
I know by the sound of you that it won't absorb.
And yet I try.
My words bounce back as if they fell on hard cement.
And we stand there in the cold hollow.
